High Net Worth Individual (HNWI) citizens wishing to perform investments in various areas in Romania, especially real estate, may easily obtain a golden visa or residency by investment.
Most important is that certain citizens (such as USA citizens) can obtain their residency in Romania without any investment required or job creation, these nationalities being exempt.
In case the individual wishes to obtain only residency in Romania, this is feasible in a limited liability company where the individual is either
- a director and investments (in technology/real estate) are made of at least 50,000 Euro or
- a shareholder in a limited liability company and an investment of 100,000 Euro and creation of 10 workplaces is attained in the first year after obtaining residency or
- a shareholder in a joint-stock company and an investment of 150,000 Euro and creation of 15 workplaces is attained in the first year after obtaining residency.
Obtaining residency in Romania, an EU member state will become an even more powerful asset for the respective individual once Romania will enter into the Schengen area (expected to occur in 2023).
One of the main advantages of Romania on the European and International market is represented by the lowest tax in the world on micro-enterprises – these are small businesses (LLCs for example that employs few people and has up to 500,000 Euro yearly turnover). Also, Romania has a good education and health system and is a key player in the S-E Europe trade due to its strategic geographical positioning. Any foreign citizen, irrespective of their citizenship can set up a limited liability company (LLC) in Romania as a sole shareholder & director of a company
